چکیده

The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Technology Committee provides reviews of existing, new, or emerging endoscopic technologies that have an impact on the practice of GI endoscopy. Evidence-based methods are used, with a MEDLINE literature search to identify pertinent clinical studies on the topic and a MAUDE (U.S. Food and Drug Administration Center for Devices and Radiological Health) database search to identify the reported adverse events of a given technology. Both are supplemented by accessing the related articles feature of PubMed and by scrutinizing pertinent references cited by the identified studies. Controlled clinical trials are emphasized, but in many cases data from randomized controlled trials are lacking. In such cases, large case series, preliminary clinical studies, and expert opinions are used. Technical data are gathered from traditional and Web-based publications, proprietary publications, and informal communications with pertinent vendors. Technology Status Evaluation Reports are drafted by 1 or 2members of the ASGE Technology Committee, reviewed and edited by the committee as a whole, and approved by the Governing Board of the ASGE. When financial guidance is indicated, the most recent coding data and list prices at the time of publication are provided. For this review the MEDLINE database was searched through January 2015 for articles related to cholangioscopy and pancreatoscopy by using the key words “choledochoscopy,” “cholangioscopy,” cholangiopancreatoscopy,” and “pancreatoscopy” paired with “bile duct stones/calculi,” “intrahepatic stones/calculi,” “intrahepatic biliary strictures,” “percutaneous,” “intraoperative,” “pancreatic duct stones/ calculi,” “pancreatitis,” “biliary disease,” “primary sclerosing cholangitis,” and “intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm/tumor.” Technology Status Evaluation Reports are scientific reviews provided solely for educational and

Preclinical characterization of the Spyglass peroral cholangiopancreatoscopy system for direct access, visualization, and biopsy.

BACKGROUND Current cholangioscopes are restricted to 2 deflection angles and require more than 1 operator. The newly developed Spyglass peroral cholangiopancreatoscopy system provides 4-way deflected steering by a single operator. OBJECTIVE To evaluate access and biopsy in all simulated biliary-duct quadrants with the Spyglass system, high-level disinfection of the reusable Spyglass optical p...

SpyGlass single-operator peroral cholangiopancreatoscopy system for the diagnosis and therapy of bile-duct disorders: a clinical feasibility study (with video).

BACKGROUND Clinical implementation of cholangioscopy for direct visual examination of bile ducts, tissue sampling, and therapeutic maneuvers has been slowed by limitations in available technology. With 4-way deflected steering and dedicated irrigation channels, the single-operator SpyGlass peroral cholangiopancreatoscopy system is designed to overcome some of these limitations. OBJECTIVE To e...

Per oral cholangiopancreatoscopy in pancreatico biliary diseases--expert consensus statements.

AIM To provide consensus statements on the use of per-oral cholangiopancreatoscopy (POCPS). METHODS A workgroup of experts in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endosonography, and POCPS generated consensus statements summarizing the utility of POCPS in pancreaticobiliary disease. Recommendation grades used validated evidence ratings of publications from an extensive liter...

I Spy Biliary and Pancreatic Ducts : The SpyGlass Single - Operator Peroral Cholangiopancreatoscopy System

15 INTRODUCTION T his profile summarizes the technical aspects and the preliminary literature related to the use of the SpyGlass Direct Visualization System. This novel technology provides the endoscopist with a direct intraluminal view of the biliary duct system. Consequently, lesions within the biliary tract can be biopsied under direct vision. It also allows for the application of therapeuti...
